The Confucius Institute Munich is a Chinese language and cultural institute that is part of the world-wide Confucius Institute Association.
The Confucius Institute Munich was founded in February 2009, initially as the Confucius Classroom Munich, and has since established itself as a central institution for the advancement of Chinese language and culture in and around Munich. In September 2012 it was upgraded to a Confucius Institute. Around one hundred students visit us every week.
As well as language courses for all levels and age groups, the Confucius Institute Munich also organises regular cultural events and the Jour Fixe presentation series. It also supports the City of Munich in its relationship with China.
The responsible bodies for the Confucius Institute Munich are Stiftung ex oriente, headquartered in Munich, the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and the umbrella organisation of the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban in Beijing.
